Swarovski crystals, I LOVE them. So many colors, and all absolutely gorgeous! Swarovski crystals are know for their incredibly beautiful sparkle and brilliance. Swarovski crystals are not actually crystals, they are infact a form of glass, made at extremely hight temperatures by melting silicon oxide powders with lead to form what is known as lead crystal. To produce a diamond like effect the crystal glass is precision cut and then polished again by a Swarovski patented process that gives the crystal a high quality finish.
The name " Swarovski " comes from the original creator; Daniel Swarovski. Daniel's father was a glass cutter, who owned his own small business in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) Daniel served as his fathers apprentice taking in all of the knowledge his father had to offer. It was in 1892 that he patented an electric cutting machine that facilitated the production of glass crystal. It was in 1895 when Swarovski, the company was founded, the company established a factory for cutting crystals in Austria.
The patended electric cutting machine, creates the highest quality glass crystals using quartz, sand, and minerals. Swarovski crystals have perfect uniform, since they are machine cut each and every crystal is exact. Swarovski uses machinery that cuts each crystal percisely. The Swarovski company indicates that each crystal has a hundred identical facets in several directions. Which is what gives Swarovski crystals their incredibly beautiful flash.
